POE is produced by solution polymerization process, in which the crystallization zone of polyethylene chain (resin phase) plays the role of physical crosslinking point, and the introduction of a certain amount of octene weakens the crystallization zone of polyethylene chain, forming an amorphous zone showing rubber elasticity (rubber phase). The microstructure of the polymer determines its macro properties. Compared with the polymers prepared by traditional polymerization methods, on the one hand, it has a very narrow relative molecular mass distribution and short branched chains, so it has excellent physical and mechanical properties (high elasticity, high strength, high elongation) and good low temperature properties. Because its molecular chain is saturated and contains relatively few tertiary carbon atoms, it has excellent heat aging and ultraviolet resistance. The narrow relative molecular mass distribution makes the material less prone to bending during injection and extrusion. On the other hand, the limited geometry catalyst technique (CGCT) can control the introduction of long branched chains into the linear short branched structure of the polymer, thus improving the processing rheological properties of the polymer and improving the transparency of the material.
The special molecular structure of POE endows it with excellent mechanical properties, rheological properties and UV resistance. In addition, it also has a good affinity with polyolefin, low temperature toughness, high performance-price advantages, so it is widely used in plastic modification, the emergence of this new material has aroused the strong attention of the plastics and rubber industry around the world, but also for the modification and processing of polymers has brought a new concept.
