Product Description

      LEONA™ PA66 resins feature excellent strength and rigidity. The high toughness and excellent impact resistance of these materials are valuable features. These properties are derived from the molecular structure of PA66 resins, which feature tightly interwoven polymer chains with hydrogen bonds acting between molecules; the water absorption of these materials allows them to exhibit water-absorption-induced plasticity (with water molecules occupying amorphous sites). 

     LEONA™ PA66 resins feature excellent electrical insulation and tracking resistance. These properties are derived from the absence of benzene rings in the molecular structure of PA66 resins, which are thus resistant to carbonization.  

   LEONA™ PA66 resins feature excellent resistance to non-acid chemicals, organic solvents, lubricant oils, and similar substances. 
 

    LEONA™ PA66 resins has high intermolecular cohesion and do not become brittle even when compounded with fillers.

      The cohesion is defined as the cohesive energy density which is the cohesive energy divided by the molar volume. A comparison among polymers shows that the cohesive energy density of polyamide is much higher than that of other polymers (see figure).

   Plastics are often compounded with glass fiber (GF), mineral fillers, and other additives to improve material strength, etc. However, large amounts of such additives can cause brittleness and a drop in strength and impact resistance. Therefore, there is a maximum limit to the amount of fillers added to plastics, and the limit varies depending on the type of plastic.

UV Stabilized Copolymer : Automotive outdoor applications like Mud Guard , Parts where impact is important.

Combination (Mineral / Glass Bead / Glass Fiber Reinforced ) Reinforcement

Products: Automotive parts, Instrument Housings, Handle, Heater grill, Parts where warpage control is important.

Properties :Moderate to good mechanical, thermal properties with smooth surface finish for warp free molding.

Flame Retardant Grades

Products : Bobbin, Switch parts, MCB Housing , Terminal Block, Relay base / parts, Printed Circuit Board frame, Connectors, Carbon brush holder.

Properties : Unfilled FR grades possess moderate strength, anti dripping, properties. But combination of FR and glass filled possess combination of good mechanical/thermal properties. FR from 0.8mm thick parts, Moderate mechanical strength with low warp molding.

Self Lubrication Grades : MoS2 filled, Graphite filled, PTFE filled, MoS2 filled Reinforced

Products : Parts which requires self lubrication and can not be greased in the applications like Gears, Sleeves, Actuators, Clutches.

Properties: Dry lubrication for anti-friction & improved wear resistance. Low co-efficient of friction.

Super Tough Grades

Products : Tubing, Brake shoe for textile machine, Instrument shoes, Luggage parts / frames, Castors, Helmet parts, Parts where repeated hammering is involved.

Properties : Very High impact strength, Excellent chemical resistance, High elongation, Low density. Up to no break at room temp and high impact at -40'C.

Modification Types

• Glass fiber - When polyamides are added with glass fillers their stiffness can compete with metals. Hence, they are considered in metal replacement projects.


• Carbon fiber - Adding carbon fiber may increase the strength, rigidity and dimensional stability of polyamides.


• Carbon black - Carbon black fillers improve resistance to wear, UV, and electrical conductivity of polyamides.


• Aramid fiber - Reinforcing with aramid fiber contributes to extreme tensile strength and heat resistance limiting creep.


• Mineral fillers - Talc and calcium carbonate increase the stiffness and heat deflection temperatures of polyamides. This reduces the cost but tend to decrease strength and toughness.


• PTFE - Provide solid lubricant properties and low coefficient of friction for bearings, gears, and other sliding applications while enhancing chemical resistance.


• MOS₂ - Similar to PTFE, molybdenum disulfide powder provides the same performance. Additionally, they are self-lubricating in parts like bushings.
